European Conference on Social Work Education 2023

The SOLID team from Kazakhstan represented by Yessimova Dinara (SC) and Ismagulova Sandugash (PhD student) took part in the European Conference on Social Work Education “Diversity and Social Work Education: Building Bridges for Sustainable Futures”, which took place from June 20 to 23 in Porto. The Conference was organized by the European Association of Schools of Social Work and Institute of Social Work of Oporto (Instituto Superior de Serviço Social do Porto). The main goal of the conference, which brought together participants from 5 continents and 33 countries of the world was to become an international forum for dialogue and discussion of issues, problems and practices in the field of social work education. The Сonference addressed various topics in the field of Social Work education, including technologies of social work, human rights, harm reduction, social work values and ethics, proactive approaches to developing social work curricula and etc. 

In separate sessions of the conference, SOLID team presented the topic "Challenges and opportunities of Social work education: case of Kazakhstan and Central Asia" which aims to overview of problems and opportunities of social work education in Kazakhstan and Central Asia. SOLID project participants established cooperation with practitioners, teachers and Associations of Schools of Social Work from different countries, including the International Association of Schools of Social Work for further develop education in the field of social work and promote the activities of the National Association of Schools of Social Work of Kazakhstan, which was founded in 2022.
